Peter
Admissions Counselor
Peter has spent his adult life working with students and parents in independent schools: teaching, coaching, advising students, partnering with parents, and serving as a college counselor, director of admissions, and for 29 years, head of school, most recently at The Peddie School. After retirement he decided to return to a role he could continue independent of any one school. He was attracted to Princeton College Consulting’s emphasis on a holistic approach and the importance of assisted self-reflection.
Peter is familiar with colleges and secondary schools around the country, and has visited campuses in 27 states to speak to admissions officers and become familiar with the campuses and their surroundings. His experience in evaluating applicants to his own school and helping students apply to college helps him support students through the process of reflection and self-discovery as they prepare their essays, use that knowledge to identify their most-appropriate schools, and then do all they can to present the best authentic version of themselves.
A graduate of Washington and Lee and the University of Virginia, Peter enjoys hiking with his wife in the Blue Ridge, community involvement, moderate farm work, and continuing to study the history of Virginia and the United States.
SKILLS: Interview preparation, essay review, transcript review, extra-curricular profile assessment, student-focused advising, facilitating holistic self-reflection.
