    Admissions Counselor

    Maryann joins PCC with over two and half decades of experience in the college admissions and counseling world.  She has traveled extensively all over the world visiting bilingual schools, foreign universities, and embassies to demystify the US college application process to highly selective universities  While working as a senior admissions officer at the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia, Maryann was a trailblazer in the recruitment of students particularly from the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, Mexico, and Latin America and developed recruitment strategies for Columbia’s joint degree programs including with Sciences Po in France and the Albert List College/Jewish Theological Seminary.

    In the college advising sphere, Maryann was instrumental in developing a database of college certificate and degree programs specifically serving students with an intellectual disability(ies) for the Think College! Project at the Institute for Community Inclusion.  Following her passion for advising students, she then accepted a position as the Director of College Counseling for a group of dual diploma international schools in China.

    Maryann is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Curry College.  Her passion for studying languages and diplomatic history also propelled her to study at the University of Pune and Fergusson College in India in addition to Universidad Catolica de Quito in Ecuador.  She is a licensed special education teacher of students with mild to moderate disabilities in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is currently completing a graduate certificate in Independent Education Consulting at the University of California, Irvine, and a graduate certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis at Fitchburg State University.

    Maryann is a prolific reader who can usually be found with a cup of strong coffee in one hand and a book in the other.  A lifelong volunteer, her adventurous passion for service has led her far and wide, including into the depths of the Amazon, where she helped co-lead a volunteer group to dig water trenches for a village of indigenous people to have access to running water.  She is active with Special Olympics, Interfaith Social Services, and her local Animal Shelter.  Her love of languages began in high school when she was ranked nationally in Latin as a member of the National Junior Classical League.  She speaks a number of languages including Hindi and Urdu and is working on building fluency in Spanish and also hopes to learn functional Mandarin.  Maryann enjoys traveling, boating, foreign films, cooking, playing with her rescue papillon, and supporting her 13 nieces and nephews on the athletic fields and performance stages.
