    Kate

    Admissions Counselor

Hailing from Los Angeles, Kate graduated from Cornell University with a degree in English. Kate has seven college admissions cycles under her belt as a counselor and is currently pursuing a master’s from Columbia University’s Teachers College to support her writing instruction and pedagogical practice.

From a young age, Kate has been a captivating writer and boasts national awards in poetry and memoir and two productions of an original one-act play. During her undergraduate studies, she served as a Computer Science Teaching Assistant at Cornell’s College of Engineering, Student Ambassador to the Undergraduate Office of Admissions, and as the Chief Copy Editor of the Cornellian Yearbook. She began her tenure as an admissions counselor in 2018 and has since become an expert in crafting essays and application narratives that help her students humanize themselves and leap off the page. Kate ensures that her students leave their work with a strengthened sense of self, a solid grasp of their values, and a motivated path forward to pursue their passions. Her dozens of past students have walked away from the application process with confidence that they have genuinely, authentically, and compellingly told their stories while having fun along the way.

With meticulous attention to detail from her work in Goldman Sachs’ Asset & Wealth Management Operations division and limitless creative energy honed with the internet’s beloved Doing Things media advertising group, Kate is a Swiss Army Knife of all things college admissions. While not geeking out over admissions blogs, you can find Kate in the kitchen perfecting her French patisserie skills (and maybe slipping a spoon of frosting to her Chihuahua pup Smudge).
