    Glenn

    Admissions Counselor

Glenn Neufeld brings a decade-plus of experience as the Assistant Director of College Counseling at Mercersburg Academy to the Princeton College Consulting team. In that capacity, he has helped guide students through all aspects of the college process, starting with their academic and extracurricular choices as new students through their choices outside of the school year, the generation of their college lists, and all aspects of their search including essay and college visit preparation.  His approach to the college process is multifaceted and grounded in the belief that choosing a college is often the first big decision in the life of a young person and should be viewed as an opportunity to work with adolescents on critical thinking skills that will last a lifetime.  In the boarding school setting, Glenn is used to mentoring students in all aspects of their lives and brings that mindset to PCC where his goal is to help young people represent their best and most authentic selves in their college search.

In addition to his college counseling experience at Mercersburg, Glenn has served as the head coach of Mercersburg’s nationally prominent swimming program and is intimately aware of how admissions and athletics function in Ivy League, NESCAC, and other elite institutions.  He serves as the athletic liaison for most of Mercersburg’s college-bound athletes and is well acquainted with the ever-evolving landscape of athletics and college admissions.  He is also Mercersburg’s expert in service academy admissions, having helped shepherd over 30 students to West Point, Annapolis, and the US Air Force Academy. Glenn’s blend of education and experience allows him to share thoughts and strategies on how to maximize opportunities for students in all areas.

A graduate of the Peddie School, Elizabethtown College (Political Science), and Virginia Tech (Student Affairs and Higher Education Administration), Glenn was also a Division I student-athlete at Lehigh University.  Over the course of his tenure at Mercersburg, he has had the opportunity to travel across the country to visit colleges and has been to nearly 100 campuses.  He is a member of NACAC (the National Association for College Admissions Counseling) and ACCIS (the Association for College Counseling in Independent Schools).  He has been a participant in the ACCIS Symposiums on College Counseling for 9th& 10th grades and Recommendation Letter Writing.  He has been a speaker at PACAC events on athletics and admissions.

Away from work, Glenn spends time traveling and is an avid reader.  The travel tends to be anywhere there is an ocean as he says: “I love my sport but hate to swim unless it’s in an ocean.”  At any one time, three books may be on the nightstand, a novel, a history book, and something of professional interest.
